Biological Treatment Products
MDG is proud to offer best-in-class liquid and powder bioaugmentation products designed to combat fats, oils, and grease (FOG), H2S, odor and sludge. To do that, we combine special bacterial strains and a proprietary blend of micronutrients and biostimulants.
Together these two components work to enhance the existing microbial population and improve the digestion of organic buildup.
Our team of experts put a strong emphasis on research and development with Bacillus; including isolation, characterization, and fermentation.
Each strain within the Biotifx® product line has been scientifically selected for their enhanced ability to degrade specific organic substrates.
Community complaints, lawsuits, and potential fines are all common challenges faced when dealing with odors. By eliminating the source of biological acids and other odorous compounds, our Biotifx® products reduce the presence of these malodors and their challenges.
The handling and disposal of sludge is often one of the highest operational costs facilities face. Through enhanced digestion, our Biotifx® products reduce these costs by decreasing the volume of sludge while also improving dewatering and sludge composition.
Not only is hydrogen sulfide responsible for corrosion and foul odor, but it is also extremely harmful to operators and the community at high enough concentrations. The Bacillus within our Biotifx® products removes both the environment and food source needed by sulfur reducing bacteria (SRBs), the class of bacteria responsible for the formation of H2S.
Fat, Oil, and Grease (FOG)
The accumulation of FOG can cause systems to fail and is costly to remove. The Bacillus strains within our Biotifx® products were specifically selected for their heightened ability to break down these substrates safely and naturally.
Our products are designed to work in a variety of wastewater industrial applications:
– Pulp and Paper
– Food and Beverage
– Meat and Dairy
– Grease Interceptors
– Chemical Blending
It’s the combination of our Biotifx® products and programs that bring our partners’ success. Each program is centered around solving top challenges within the wastewater industry.

At MDG, we continue to discover all the possibilities to treat wastewater with Bacillus. Through years of research and development, we’ve found that bioaugmentation is the answer for wastewater treatment. Bioaugmentation is the process of adding scientifically selected organisms to a microbial community to enhance that community. The term bioaugmentation
Through the wastewater treatment process, there are components left over that are separated from the liquid phase. This collection of leftovers is referred to as sludge, which is then further treated within tanks. At Microbial Discovery Group (MDG), we have explored the process of treating sludge within sludge tanks
Lagoons and ponds have been used for treating wastewater for over 3,000 years. Today there are over 8,000 wastewater treatment lagoons in operation within the United States. One appeal to using lagoons is that they generally require less energy than other treatment systems and have lower operation and maintenance
Lift stations are commonly used as a part of operations across a variety of different industries. While they are extremely useful, they can be difficult to maintain when not cared for properly. At Microbial Discovery Group (MDG), we have spent countless hours in the field with our partners, reviewing
We’ve heard it time and time again, “Does this stuff really work”? This sparked an idea. Why don’t we help our partners eliminate any doubt upfront by sharing in-field results? Better yet, let’s demonstrate how easy it can be for them to create their own. After all, seeing is believing! Through
No matter the application, treating wastewater is often like solving an intricate puzzle. Getting all the pieces to fit together takes the right combination of knowledge, experience, and having cold, hard data by your side. To keep it simple, we’ve outlined THREE ways our technical support team can help you (and
When it comes to treating wastewater lagoons and ponds, our partners follow our full-service treatment approach that combines premier bioaugmentation products, step-by-step treatment programs, and in-field support. This unique combination creates a complete solution that brings real success to their customers – just like this real lagoon treatment story! BACKGROUND One
Many people have been stocking up on toilet paper over the past few weeks. If you haven’t visited the toilet paper aisle in a while, you may be making tough decisions. Most grocery store TP shelves quickly started to collect dust. A lack of toilet paper means that many
Now more than ever, wastewater workers are absolutely essential. With an influx in residential water use, we see and appreciate the hard work being done to keep the world of water running as smoothly as possible. While our ability to travel is limited at this time, our technical service team is
